Situated in the highlands of northern Ethiopia, Aksum symbolizes the wealth and importance of the civilization of the ancient Aksumite kingdom, which lasted from the 1st to the 8th centuries AD. The kingdom was at the crossroads of the three continents; Africa, Arabia and the Greco-Roman World.
The ancient center of the Sabaean civilization. The temple of Yeha dated to around 700BC.it served as the capital of the Pre-Axumite kingdom of Da'mat.The fine old building , according to the nineteenth century German scholar Heinrich Müller , probably dates back to about seven or eight hundred years before the birth of Christ.
The battle of Adwa
Ethiopia had successfully defended its independence. After the victory over italy in 1896, Ethiopia acquired a special importance in the eyes of Africans as the only surviving African state. After Adwa Ethiopia became emblematic of African valor resitanece ,the bastion of prestige and hope to all Africans who were experiencing the full shock of European conquest.
Negash is a village in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia,which straddles the Adigrat-Mekele road 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) north of Wukro. Negash is the earliest Muslim settlement in Africa 7th century ago.
Abraha We Atsbaha
The church was built in the 4th century by twin brothers Abraha and Atsbaha. Christianity had existed from its earliest years.
